A documentary set to air this weekend will chronicle the untold story of hip-hop legend Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels, one-third of groundbreaking group Run-D.M.C.

Featuring rap icons such as Ice-T, Eminem, MC Lyte, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz and Mix Master Mike, D.M.C.: Walk This Way will explore McDaniel's post-stardom struggles with alcoholism and the loss of his voice as well as his personal redemption.

In the mid-‘90s, due in part to hectic schedules, friction within the group and a struggle to remain relevant in ever-evolving hip-hop culture, Darryl reportedly sank into deep depression before finding renewed purpose in his life.

The documentary, directed by artist and author Justin Bua, premieres Sunday, July 10 at 10 p.m. PT/EST on cable network Ovation TV.

'Diamond' Dallas Page and Darryl McDaniels (of Run-DMC) Star in a Local Film

Hip-Hop's "King of Rock," DMC will be starring in a new short film entitled Hard Luck.

Darryl McDaniels, one-third of the legendary group Run-DMC, will star as a crime boss. The film will also co-star former wrestling great, Diamond Dallas Page.

DMC didn't simply land the role, the film's producer David Gere had a conversation with him about his desire to break into acting while they were hanging out.

Gere told the Hartford Advocate he called the movie's writer and director Kurtis Spieler with the concept to do an urban noir gangster film and got him on board after speaking with D.

Diamond Dallas Page isn't a stranger to the camera nor is he unfamiliar with rap stars. In 2007, he received an out of court settlement from a dispute with Jay-Z over his "Diamond Cutter" trademarked hand-gesture that he claimed Hov used for profit.

Hard Luck began shooting in Connecticut this month and it will be promoted at different festivals this year, including South By Southwest, Tribeca and The Sundance Film Festival.

Known as DJ Scratch, he has announced that he will change his alias to DJ Jam Master Scratch, with the support of DMC from Run-DMC.

It only seems right that one member be able to pass the title as it was 1988 when Run-DMC helped Scratch get his first step into the music business as the DJ for their “Run's House World Tour.”

His history as turntablist/producer has seen him working with EPMD, DMX, Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent. He spoke with AllHipHop on receiving such an honor.

“I dropped so many tears about this. Me being recognized for my 22 years of work by a king [DMC], is my ‘Lifetime Achievement Award.'”

Scratch also promised to keep the legacy of Jam Master Jay alive and not be a let down to the name.

"I will continue to represent JMJ. Only practice makes a real Jam Master."

Becoming friends with Jay back in 1998, he was recommended by the late DJ to duo EPMD with whom he helped to build his career.

The official renaming of Scratch reportedly occurred and he will soon leak footage of the momentous occasion.

Angela Simmons spoke out on Twitter about the rumors and hate that has come against her little brother.

Tweeps were going hard on JoJo after the news of his little brother Diggy being signed to Atlantic Records, saying things ranging from

“he must feel like the rap gene skipped him”, to “must feel like the rest of the Jacksons when Michael went solo.”

To defend her brother, Angela decided to speak out on her UStream channel last night about her brother being a trending topic on Twitter (#jojomustfeellike), and also took the opportunity as fans asked questions to dispel rumors.

When one of her fans asked her the question about who she was dating, Angela responded:

“I just want to take this time to speak to ya'll for real about the rumors and stuff people are saying about me in the industry. I am single and I think that it is terrible that as a female I can't hang out with my male friends without it being said that I am dating them. I have friends just like everyone else and I am not dating every guy that you see me hanging out with.”

When asked about how she felt about people laughing at JoJo not being signed but his little brother Diggy getting a deal, Angie said:

“People need to stop trying to create a competition between my siblings. Trust me if one of us make it we are all happy. Haters out there have nothing better to do with their life than talk about someone else's, instead criticizing our life, why don't you try to get your own.”

In addition to Angie speaking out for her little bro, Joe Budden had something to the haters out there:

“#JoJomustfeellike TT is some bullsh*t....... people live 2 be cruel & hurtful, what's 2 gain from it ?”

So there you have it, #Jojomustfeellike he runs with the mob because it is clear that the Simmons clan sticks together.

Run DMC's Hip-Hop imprint has helped to commemorate the trio as musical pioneers. With their extensive list of crossover hits, Rev Run, Darryl ‘DMC' McDaniels and Jam-Master Jay have become internationally recognized as rap royalty. In August a street was renamed ‘Run DMC JMJ Way' in their honor to pay homage to their contributions in modern day music. Now nearly two short months later, the Hip-Hop icons are in the works to share their memoirs in a musical.

Variety magazine reports that DMC and Rev Run are meeting with an executive producer to work on lending their story to a Broadway stage. The legends will meet with Paula Wagner, producer of “Mission Impossible”, “The Last Samurai “and “Vanilla Sky” to discuss details on the upcoming project.

The magazine reports that,

“The musical will tell the story of Run-DMC, the first rap act to cross over and influence American music. The story of Simmons, McDaniels and their musical partner Jason "Jam-Master Jay" Mizell (who was murdered in 2002) will be told in a unique manner.”

Wagner, the producer-to-be, expressed her excitement about the project saying,

“I feel their story lends itself perfectly to the stage. This project has been a passion of mine for some time and I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with them."

Although not riding his way up the charts as he once did, Darryl ‘DMC' McDaniels of the legendary Run DMC will be pedal his way to victory during tomorrow's ‘City To The Sand' Bike Race. DMC will be one of 100 bikers to bike 100 miles traveling from the busy streets of New York to the placid beach lull of The Hamptons. The goal of the ride is to raise $1,000, 000 in college scholarships for inner-city New York Children. During the ride DMC will be rocking gear from his old friends at Adidas, wearing their new signature “Adidas Agilis” sunglasses. His contribution to the race will benefit his nonprofit organization, The Felix Organization.

The Felix Organization is focused on providing opportunities and life-changing experiences to foster children. DMC co-founded the organization with casting director, Sheila Jaffe. Over 300 foster children have benefited from the organization and been sent to the organization's summer camp, Camp Felix in Putnam, Valley New York.
