Scott Mescudi made headlines on April 1 when he suddenly announced that he was giving up his habit of smoking marijuana.

While the announcement proved to be no April Fool's Joke, Cudi's been seemingly silent on the topic up until a recent concert to a few lucky fans.

According to Cudi he's given up his lonely stoner ways to focus more on things he “missed” including his family, his business and his 1-year-old daughter.

“You know how some people can take a smoke and they're good, they do it for recreational purposes, sh*t like that…I was the motherf*cker who was doing that sh*t all the time, recreationally, every day, wake up, needed it, all those things…I just felt like I needed to just take a step back, clear my dome and focus on some real important sh*t. Like my daughter for one, my family, my business, things that are important. But you know, don't be sad, I had a good run right? We got high together a lot right?”

As previously reported, Cudi became the proud father of a baby girl, Vada, who turned 1-years-old this year.

Kid Cudi Says He's Stopped Smoking Weed

Kid Cudi is officially a changed man and is announcing that he's given up drugs.

As previously reported, Cudi was arrested in June 2010 after he was involved in a domestic dispute and found with a controlled substance believed to be liquid cocaine.

The notorious weed smoker revealed today however that his drug-induced days are behind him and he's starting a new sober lifestyle.

Insisting that this was no ‘April Fools Joke', he posted on his official blog Friday, April 1, 2011,

“I dont smoke weed anymore. Ill leave it to the kids. Im 27 with a business to run and i need to be alert and focused with my mind strong. For those who still get it on, smoke one in my memory as your favorite lonely stoner.

This is not a joke. I know most of you wanna see me all drugged out and f*cked up and i know misery loves company, but im sorry those days are over. I had a good run, Amsterdam and all. Im happy being sober. Im happy being a new me.

Giva f*ck who thinks of me different, you didnt care about me in the first place if you cant be proud and happy for me for growing and starting a new chapter. Im not your puppet or your tap dancing drug addict here to be your miserable muse, i always made music for me to help myself find understanding. I have finally learned from the words in my songs. I love who loves me and who really cares about me."

He adds,

Learn from this, theres always light at the end of the tunnel. Hell does have an exit, and i found it. For those who are looking for a way out, i left the door open, and ill be waiting for whoever wants to grow with me. Peace and Love, Cudi”

Kid Cudi s returning back to the music scene after seemingly months on hiatus, this time at Vanderbilt University's Rites Of Spring Festival.

The G.O.O.D. music rapper will be joined by Public Enemy for the April 15-16 celebration on the college's alumni lawn.

Alongside Cudi and the legendary rap group will be songstress Sara Bareilles, The National and Matt and Kim.

As previously reported Cudi is said to be working on the new season of his hit HBO series “How To Make It In America” and will release a mixtape this summer and his Wizard rock album this fall.

Under his new name @wizardcud, Cudi challenged fans to finish the lyrics to his songs and announced that he was “going ham” and recording new music for Kanye and Jay-Z.

In addition to connecting with fans, Cudder also made two crucial announcements; that he's releasing his Wizard album and a new mixtape over the summer.

Cudi made sure to mention however that his album would not be Hip-Hop but a rock project instead.
He tweeted,

“Pushing for a summer release of the wizard album. I produce and play guitar on everything with my main man @dotdagenius. he's learnin bass. the maniac film will b released later this year. cage, shia and i really want everything just right, and i need the proper time for scoring. the edit must be epic. wizard is a rock album, no raps, just singing. brand new thing. flavor.”

He also added,

“Oh i forgot the best news ever.... new mixtape "a man named scott.”

Cudi also announced that he'll be filming for his HBO show “How To Make It In America” in March.

While the actual details are quite scant, reports are stating that the rapper has a drunken tantrum that involved a woman and ended with Cudi, real name Scott Mescudi, appearing to try and rip her apartment's front door off of it's hinges.

Successfully removing the door, it was reported that the rapper seized the woman's phone and smashed it against the wall.

After police detained the rapper, they discovered a glassine envelope of an unknown substance in his front pocket, according to sources.

Cudi has been charged with possession and felony criminal mischief.

An upcoming track reportedly from Kid Cudi's next album Cudder: The Revolution of Evolution hit the net this weekend sparking controversy.

Rumors were swirling around the track “I Do My Thing” featuring Snoop Dogg, with some people saying that Cudi leaked the song himself and others claiming that it featured production from the legendary Dr. Dre.

Now Cudi's speaking out against the rumors and defending himself.

Taking to his personal blog, Cudi says that the track was taken off his debut album Man On The Moon. He confirms that it will be on Cudder but denies the claim that he leaked it himself.

“I recorded the snoop joint that leaked around the time I was working on MOTM, it's a deleted scene that I'm including on Cudder. I DID NOT LEAK IT and I barely have a name for it so ill let u guys know what it's really called as soon as I figure it out haha.”

Cudi also says that the song was not produced by Dr. Dre, and the real producer was Rashad “Ringo” Smith.  He encourages fans to “rock out” to the song and also adds some classic Cudi words of wisdom.

“Also, the homie Rashad “Ringo” Smith produced the record, NOT DR. DRE.  if u got the record already cool. if not, if u can find it rock out…and remember...WE SHININ....WE ROLLIN...WE SIPPIN...WE SMOKIN...WE LIVIN...WE HAPPY...THEYY MAAAADDDDDDD! F*CK EM "

The album was originally thought to be titled Cudder but instead the Ohio MC has decided to change it to Cudder and The Revolution of Evolution.

While Cudi's busy defending Kanye, he's also preparing for the “Monster Ball” tour with Lady Gaga. After the “Fame Kills” tour was unexpectedly cut short, Scottie was tapped to serve as the replacement rap act for the eclectic songstress. Cudi and Gaga will tour nationally and internationally in over 20 cities.

The “Monster Ball” tour with Kid Cudi and Lady Gaga kicks off November 27 in Montreal, Canada.
