"The NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show," NBC said in a statement. "Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers."

In turn, the NFL blamed NBC. "There was a failure in NBC's delay system. The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans."

Who needs to get all the blame is M.I.A., who is no doubt now being proclaimed by mainstream media outlets as the epitome of Hip-Hop. That's because, ya know, only rappers would raise up their middle finger on national television.

While there's no word on which of her many hits will be part of the show, rumor has it that Green has been commissioned to put his own spin on some of her classics. 2012 is shaping up to be another solid year for the Atlanta native. Aside from his judging gig on NBC's 'The Voice,' Green has re-linked with his Goodie M.O.B. family for the reality show, 'Cee Lo Takes The U.K.,' helmed by producer Mark Burnett. The New York TImes reported that the show, which only airs in the U.K., follows Green and Goodie M.O.B. as they record a new album.

As for the Super Bowl, viewers can catch Green and Madonna on Feb 5, when the New York Giants square off against the New England Patriots, beginning at 6:30 p.m. EST on NBC.

Not only has the 2010 NFL Comeback Player of the Year, Michael Vick bounced back on the field but he has also been given another honor since his recent flack for receiving a 'key to the city' in Dallas during Super Bowl weekend.

The Southeastern Virginia Arts Association has announced that Vick will be honored as a "hero" at their annual Black Tie Gala.

A statement released by the organization read,

"Michael D. Vick has epitomized the meaning of ‘hero' not only by his unparalleled accomplishments on the gridiron, but more importantly, by his relentless resilience in overcoming the obstacles he has faced in his career."

The obstacles may have been self-imposed by the All-Pro quarterback after serving a prison sentence for funding a dog-fighting ring, but since then he's worked with the Humane Society to help improve his image.

The $100-per-person gala will be held on March 26th in Vick's hometown of Virginia.
