VH1’s The Breaks was one of the surprise hits of 2016 and a celebrated original film on the cable network. Clifford “Tip” Harris, better known to the world as T.I., will be joining the cast for the show’s upcoming second act as a full-fledged series.
VH1 has found their niche for producing original series it seems (Hit the Floor, Barely Famous). Now the network is preparing to film The Breaks, a show based on the TV movie VH1 released earlier this year starring Mack Wilds, Wood Harris and Afton Williamson.
Last January, VH1’s Hip-Hop drama The Breaks made its television debut and remains the second most watched original cable movie of the year. The film, based on Dan Charnas‘ best-selling book The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop has been ordered to become a full series for the cable network.
