Already being forced to deal with push backs, the album initially slated for release as early as 2006, Memphis Bleek's project The Process was again pushed back from a 2009 release to 2010.

Not allowing the politics to set him back mentally, Bleek continues his grind until the drop with the release of the track “Still Ill”

“Still Ill”

HipHopWired was able to catch up with Bleek and speak with the rapper on the upcoming release and what to expect as well as dispelling certain misconceptions.

“I'm gonna make it happen, trust me with this album I'm gonna come strong and let people know, everything that you've been hearing over the years, it's all been Bleek. I didn't have a deal when Coming of Age and “It's Alright” came out, none of that. It's just crazy the way people think. Rumors get started now, somebody think of it in their house and they just put in on the blog and it goes everywhere and everybody believes it.”

He also added creating his own brand and the details behind the delay on the album.

“Oh man, just basically showing people the growth and the process of building my own establishment right now Get low Records. That's what's been the long delay, I felt like I didn't want to put out another release under Def Jam if they going to look at me selling 400,000 copies as a loss. I'd rather lose on my own label like that, you know what I mean. So it was the process of getting out the deal, the process of getting a distribution deal and one that's suitable for me, one that generates the right amount of attention as well as the assets, I didn't want to just jump on any deal if that's the case I'd be doing what every other rapper [is doing].”

Scheduled for a release on March 23, Bleek will step to the plate to show that he's capable of standing on his own without Roc A Fella behind him.

As Memphis Bleek prepares to return to the music scene with the follow up to his 534 project he's continuing to make headlines.

As previously reported, Bleek was quoted saying that he wouldn't sign to his big homie Jay-Z's Roc Nation emblem to sell records and that he'd rather let the music speak for itself and sell it on his own.

Keeping to that theme Bleek plans to release his latest album The Process in the new year.

For dedicated Bleek fans looking to gain the project in February, they'll have to wait a month later since it's been pushed back to March.

Until then check out the cover art for Memphis Bleek's The Process below.

“…this is what I dreamed of, dropping my own album on my own imprint.”

The long awaited return of rapper Memphis Bleek may have to wait a little longer as his upcoming album, The Process, has been pushed back to 2010. Originally slated for November 24, the album is now set to drop in February. The Process is truly a process.

Stating that he needs to really take his time with it to make a true return, the album has been promised for early 2010.

With Jay-Z on his side as executive producer, the project enlisted names such as Just Blaze, Rick Ross and No I.D. to join the ride. Hopefully, the big homie won't be able to eclipse Bleek's work again like he did last time with “Dear Summer."

Bleek has been out of sight since 2005s 534, but has been in the process of building his own brand with Get Low Records. Trying to make his own name and escape the shadow of Jay-Z, the rapper has stepped up to the plate as CEO and has been releasing mixtapes as though he was starting his career from scratch under his own guidelines.

Speaking with HipHopWired, Bleek gave incite to the actual process of releasing his upcoming project.

“I felt like I didn't want to put out another release under Def Jam if they are going to look at me selling 400,000 copies as a loss. I'd rather lose on my own label like that. So it was the process of getting out the deal, getting a distribution deal that's suitable for me and one that generates the right amount of attention as well as the assets.”

With a career being known mostly as an appetizer to the main course, it has been long overdue for the rapper to get the respect he deserves as a rapper. Now the leader of his own gang, it's time for the rapper to step into that spotlight on his own two.
