It looks like The Wonder Twins are back in full effect.

Dame Dash is speaking out on Aaliyah on the 10-year-anniversary of her death.

The singer who passed away August 25, 2001 is being remembered by a number of people including rapper Drake who announced on Twitter that the singer lends him tips before every show.

“RIP Baby Girl…in my ear at every show letting me know the next move I should make. Love you.”

In addition to Drizzy, the late singer is being remembered by someone who actually knew her, her longtime boyfriend Dash who sat down for an interview with Billboard.

Speaking to Billboard's The Juice, Dash revealed that he misses the young starlet to this day even though their time together was strained.

"She was always working and shooting movies…and I was doing my own thing, so it was really hard for us to get long stretches of time together. When you're with someone like that you buy into a life of being separate, but again, I couldn't help my feelings."

According to Dame, the couple started out as friends in 2000 before falling in love.

“She was intelligent and she caught me. I'm the kind of guy who says things sometimes just to make myself laugh, but she would just catch me making jokes for me. I couldn't get anything past her. She had a very quick mind and a very kind heart.”

"Our time together meant so much that when we got more time, we felt like that [engagement] would be next. She was one of the best people I ever met. Even with the pain I felt, I would do it all over again."

In remembrance of her passing, BET is airing their “Aaliyah: One in a Million” special today August 25th, at 8:00 p.m.

BET will air an Aaliyah tribute special this Thursday in remembrance of the singer, who passed 10 years ago on August 25th, 2001.

The “Aaliyah: One in a Million” special will feature interviews from numerous artists and entertainers, including Timbaland, Missy Elliot, Swizz Beatz, Damon Dash and many others.

“With Aaliyah: One In A Million, we celebrate her life, her music and what she meant to so many,” said Stephen Hill, BET's executive VP of programming.

“Aaliyah was a beautiful angel and we're so glad that we were able to assemble her friends and loved ones for this unique special.”

The Aaliyah special will debut on Thursday, August 25th, at 8:00 p.m.

Ahab Joseph Nafal filed a $5,000,000 lawsuit for not receiving the proper royalties for his song being sampled.

The lawsuit revolves around the use of the song “Khosara, Khosara,” which Timbaland sampled in Jay-Z's 2000 hit single "Big Pimpin'."

Lawyers argued that "Khosara, "Khosara" was created in 1957 and was governed by the 1909 Copyright Act and not the 1976 Copyright Act.

While the lawsuit has been in process for awhile, the lawsuit was dismissed in 2007 because Nafal failed to join all individuals with rights to the composition in the lawsuit.

So you should expect a rapper's bars to have a few errors here and there, right?

In some cases, but in others, it is a low down dirty shame how rappers sometimes slander simple facts in their rhymes.

The sadder fact is that the monstrous mistakes make it all the way from the booth to a CD.

A Miami judge has thrown out a lawsuit levied against Timbaland and Nelly Furtado by a record label claiming the duo stole their song.

Originally filed back in 2009 by Finnish label Kernal Records Oy, the suit contends that Tim and Furtado took elements of their artists song “Acid Jazzed Evening” and unlawfully used it on the 2006 Furtado song “Do It.”

Tim appeared to get off on a technicality.

Kernal originally claimed “Acid Jazzed Evening,” was published on Australian disk magazine Vandalism News in 2002 and posted to the Internet later that year.

The just of the case came down to, “whether the European tracks were first published on the Internet or in Europe.”

US Copyright laws stipulate, “music published first on the Internet is considered U.S.-created and must be copyrighted to be protected.”

Kernal failed to copyright the song before filing the suit in which they were seeking $10 - $20 million in damages.

"We're very happy," said Timbaland representative Karen Stetson. "We thought from the beginning that this issue was an important one and followed the plain language of the federal Copyright Act. But the other side was trying to get away from the plain language of the Copyright Act."

 

Kernal plans to appeal the judges ruling.

Producers would put their all into creating a the spin to a song that will create a new sound.  The way things go now… just add a wack rapper on a track and you have a remix.

That wasn't the case back when Diddy was Puffy, or Timbaland didn't have muscles, and JD had braids. There are plenty of producers we could have picked to go against each other, but these are three elite executives that have shown consistency over a long period of time.

For the second time, Jay-Z and producer Timbaland may face a lawsuit for the use of a Bollywood sample in Jigga's UGK assisted hit, “Big Pimpin.”

On Tuesday, a judge granted the children of composer Baligh Hamdy permission to file a lawsuit against Jigga and Tim for sampling the Hamdy composed “Khosara, Khosara.”

One of Hamdy's sons, Osama Ahmed Fahmy, has already exercised his right to file suit making a case against Shawn Carter, EMI Publishing, MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, UMG Recordings, Warner Music and others according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Jay-Z and Timbaland obtained the rights to use the track in 1999, but not the particular licensing they needed to be able to sample, loop and rhyme over the sampled track.

That, the plaintiffs argue would have required permission from each of Hamdy's children.

A similar lawsuit was filed by the Hamdy family in 2005 and dismissed two years later citing a mistake in the court filings.
