Kanye West Tweets About Clothing Line, Grammy Nominations

Kanye West had the Twitterverse sitting on the edge of their seats Wednesday night (Jan. 4) when he launched into yet another online rampage.

West, who has been a ghost on the social networking site as of late, forged a seemingly endless rant starting with his clothing line and ending in a quote from a Nobel Prize winner. The Chicago rapper kicked off his social media marathon session by dispelling rumors that the line was named after his late mother, Donda. "I appreciate everyone's support for my clothing line but I wanted to clarify a few things," he began. "The name of the line is Kanye West not DW... The Dw was a design element placed on the invite in homage to my mom."

Despite receiving mixed reviews upon its Paris debut last fall, Yeezy spoke fondly of his designs and the joys of creating. "They say [sic] you only live once but every time I come to work I feel like I'm starting a second life," he explained. Becoming a designer started out as an uphill battle for the 33-year-old, that was nearly derailed by the backlash from his legendary intoxicated appearance at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, but it appears that he's back on track. According to West he has been working on the line for nearly a decade and funded the entire project himself. "You guys might think I have some type of backing for my line but I don't. I did the first fashion show out of my own pocket and used the money I made touring to follow my passion."

From there Yeezy touched on everything from firing the William Morris Agency after the resignation of agent Cara Lewis, to leading the pack of Grammy nominations at this year's ceremony. However, given his unsavory reputation for award show outbursts, he's understandably hesitant to attend. "I appreciate having the most nominations at the Grammies but I feel so conflicted by the fact that award shows sometimes are completely...illogical," he wrote.

No one knows when his next great fashion or music creation will be introduced to the world but West teased his over 5 million Twitter followers with the news that he has assembled a team which includes designers, lawyers, scientists, and bankers to "create, advertise and produce products driven equally by emotional want and utilitarian need." The new venture, DONDA, is named after his mother and in the interest of "picking up where Steve Jobs left off," and recruiting influential professionals to "directly affect governments," he even gave out an email address for those interesting in getting involved that is likely receiving tons of submissions at this moment.

Yeezy closed his diatribe with a quote from Nobel Prize playwright George Bernard Shaw: "If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas."

West doesn't drop these online jewels very often, but when he does at least they're entertaining.

50 Cent Continues To Wage War With Interscope, Via Twitter

50 Cent has employed his Twitter account many times to both drum up controversy and air out his frustrations. Today (January 2), the G-Unit general tweeted to his legion of followers that he may no longer focus on music, and even predicted that he doesn't think he'll live much longer.

After squabbling with Interscope Records last year regarding his upcoming fifth studio, a New Year's Eve Twitter rant from 50 threatened more free releases, such as the recent Big 10 mixtape, if the album doesn't get the green light from label head Jimmy Iovine. “Ok I need a record deal jimmy iovine, call me early tomorrow or I'm putting out another mix tape,” tweeted 50 Cent on Saturday (December 31, 2011).

It appears 50 Cent didn't have that conversation with Iovine, tweeting this afternoon, “I have lost all the faith in the team I'm on. I having nothing left to say I will not be promoting my music.” He continued with a cryptic tweet, “Ill be honest I don't think I'm gonna live much longer. I want to mean more in other peoples lives.”

Today's 50 Cent outburst appears to be inspired by an unfinished leak of the Jeremih-assisted lead single “Girls Go Wild”– released ahead of schedule according to Fif. “Man interscope put out the single art saying its coming out on the 31st but its not coming out. I'm not putting my album out till we are all on the same page,” tweeted 50 last month.

The radio-friendly “Girls Go Wild” officially dropped earlier today, via MySpace, with an upcoming video helmed by director Colin Tilley awaiting a release.

Will 50 Cent stay true to his word or will he cave?

Yesterday's Twitter barrages by both Deiondra Sanders & Pill got us to thinking; which collection of "140 characters or less" shots were the best of 2011? As the year wraps up, it's always good to reflect on the past, in order to make better decisions in the future. In this case, let's hope some of these artists log off and go to the studio instead of venting their frustrations and personal gripes for the world to see, and retweet.

Someone decided to spread false news that the life of Missy Elliot ended. But Misdemeanor is alive and kicking.

Sometimes Twitter comes in handy when people can directly address the rumor mill even though that's where the lie began.

The multi-faceted entertainer tweeted, “I'm great people for all [of you] who keep asking! Alive and well! Sadly, someone was that miserable to make up such a cruel rumor! It Makes me work harder make em mad!”

Wale Campaigns for 5 Mics with The Source

I can understand campaigning for presidency, asking people to buy an album, I even get lobbying for likes on Facebook or Twitter followers, but Wale is on a mission to get The Source Magazine to give him a 5 Mic rating for Ambition.

Is he delusional? He's been calling this LP classic for awhile now and I know Kanye did that with College Dropout, but he backed it up.

I'm not saying Ambition isn't great or anything, if you're a Wale fan then maybe it's right up your alley. But I don't know how this campaign is supposed to work. Maybe the staff at The Source will see this video and like the music more...

50 Cent Talks New Album, Keeping Fans Entertained On Twitter & How Record Companies Can Negatively Affect An Artist's Career [Video]

50 Cent spoke with Piers Morgan on his talk show on CNN and the program will air tonight. After the interview 50 talked backstage about the convo with Piers and he credited him as a great journalist.

"He's going to make sure the public gets to hear the answers to questions they would actually be interested in."

50 also opened up about the importance of Twitter and how celebrities should interact with their followers the way he does.

Fifty gave his take on major labels and how they can affect artists negatively, "You can make great music and it just goes into a slot where people say 'it was done well, but who cares?' You got older material of artists you listen to and you go back and say 'wow, this person was amazing; what happened to them?' The system happened to them. The business of music itself happened to them."

Now Fabolous has decided to respond and tell his side of the story and umm...they are sounding way different. Check out what Fab had to say about the altercation with who he refers to as "Brandy's brother"..

Ludacris recently took to twitter to share a photo of himself in a pose of victory, after a tiresome climb up the Great Wall of China.

“I CLIMBED THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA!!! KNOCK IT OFF MY BUCKET LIST!! OR AS I CALL IT MY F**K IT LIST!!” he tweeted.

Now that that's over with, it's back to business with Luda, who is gearing up for his 1.21 Gigawatts mixtape, which features his Waka Flocka featured "Rich & Flexin." This project will drop October 12th, with his eighth studio album Ludaversal slated for 2012.
