Legendary Hip-Hop collective Wu-Tang Clan and their explosion onto the scene in 1993 still stands as one of the unprecedented power moves in Rap. Entering as a nine-man group with all splitting off into solo careers, the Clan has etched their names into rap music lore. However, razor-sharp swordsman Raekwon feels that the splintering may have damaged his team's legacy.

Speaking candidly with VladTV of his crew's career arc, the still consistent Raekwon fondly recalls the period of time where he and his fellow Clansmen worked together as a unit. “What I really miss is that energy from my brothers. We were young, we was child stars at that time, but I miss being around ni**as and laughing in the studio and snappin',” reflected Raekwon. Just every line that come out ni**as, everybody's head lift up like, 'Oooh,' and everybody's head go down and get back in that pen and pad.”

The bombshell, however, was Rae stating that the Wu might have dulled their potential by having members pursue solo albums. “To me, it just created a force and I'm a tell you something, and I ain't told nobody this, but I feel like in a way, us doing solo things hurt us [as a crew],” said Raekwon. “It could've been more stronger if we knew it had to stay like that. But when we allow each other to do us, some did better than others and when some did better than others, it caused a certain kind of reaction in the whole movement."

Raekwon continued by saying, “The brand is so big just as a team, it's like when we did that, it jumped into some ego s**t, which normally happens, but what I'm just trying to say is if we would've stayed more tighter, we probably would've had about 30 albums right now.”

Ol' Dirty Bastard's FBI File Revealed

The Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard passed away in 2004 but his legacy lives on via his music, and now FBI files. Pitchfork reports that a site called Gun.io obtained ODB's files via a Freedom of Information Act request.

The files are available here, and at 90+ pages it is far from light reading. Gun.io does provide choice selections for you to skip ahead to, including:

"The WTC is heavily involved in the sale of drugs, illegal guns, weapons possession, murder, carjacking and other types of violent crime." [p5]

Connections to the murder of Robert "Pooh" Johnson and Jerome "Boo Boo" Estrella. [p6]

Connection to murder of Ishamael "Hoody" Kourma. [p13]

Who Is ASAP Rocky?

If you're not sure who ASAP Rocky is, then you might want to check out the in-depth interview with Complex where the 23-year-old Harlem repper goes in about everything from hustling to fashion to his obsession with the purple drink.

Rocky claims his parents named him after Rakim and he's flirting with the idea of naming his child Kanye when the time comes.

Heavily influenced by Houston's sound, Rocky admits he's never been there but he admires the city. "I'm quite sure Wu-Tang had never been to China before, but they were influenced [by Chinese culture] and you couldn't tell them that they weren't."

Rocky also builds on the fact that his crew all have the ASAP name in front of their own and he made sure he secured a record deal that would allow him to put out other artists on his RCA label.

When asked about his relationship with Drake, Rock states that Drizzy posted his "Purple Swag" video on his blog and reached out to him to let him know he was an influence. Rocky credits him for that and is now a part of Drake's Club Paradise Tour.

"They call him corny but it is what it is. I'd smack the s**t out of somebody for Drake."
He would also smack somebody for Mac Miller and although Rocky's no longer homophobic, he can't hang out with Brandon (Lil B) because he wears "my grandmother's earrings."
