NBA 2K12 is being called the best basketball game and one of the best overall sporting games of all time.
Setting up girlfriends all across the world for a very long a neglectful Winter, NBA 2k12 and 4th quarter album releases from artists such as Drake, Jeezy, and more, will make it very hard for a man to pay attention to anything that isn’t music or basketball related.
In honor of its release, Hip-Hop Wired has decided to make its NBA 2K12 all star team, and has compared 10 rappers to the perfect 2012 NBA All-Star Team.
Peep the page #’s below to see which rappers we would have on our team, and let us know which rappers would be in your starting 5.
Bench
Kendrick Lamar – Shooting Guard
Kendrick Lamar is one of those players an average basketball fan wouldn’t really know about.
While he was consistent in college, it took a co-sign from a legend like Dr. Dre J to give Lamar the attention he deserves.
However, if you’ve looked at scouting reports and seen Kendrick play live, then you know that there is no one who puts on a better show and can deliver the way this upcoming player does.
Bench
Mac Miller – Point Guard
If Mac Miller could be compared to a current NBA player right now, it would probably be Jimmer Fredette.
Even though they are both white, it goes a lot further than that.
Like Jimmer, Mac has been the most popular and most dominate up and comer of the internet rap scene.
While critics are speculating if he can have success in the big leagues now, a lot of pros already see the kid as a force to reckon with as he prepares for his debut season.
Bench
Wale – Small Forward
Wale has always shown signs of greatness but never seems to stay consistent when it counts.
However, this offseason, Wale has shown us he’s ready to be back in a starting position with a dope mixtape and a couple of singles that are appealing to both radio and blogs.
With a huge game coming up on November 1st, we’ll see if Wale’s “Ambition” will be enough to get him off the bench and into the starting 5 for the 2012 season.
Bench
J. Cole – Power Forward
There was a lot of speculation on what kind of player J. Cole would be.
We all knew he had the talent but when it came to prime-time games (singles), he always seemed to not live up to his hype.
However, after proving critics wrong and having an amazing album that can compare to the best of the best, is it possibly time for J. Cole to take off the practice jersey and put on a starter one?
While only time can tell how much of an All Star we think Cole will become, we have a feeling he’s not just a one and done.
Bench
Specialist – Akon
We know what you are thinking and yes Akon is easily through the later part of his career, but when it comes to hooks and hits has there been any hookman more consistent?
We look at Akon as the Robert Horry of the rap game!
Sure he may not possess any real threat towards emcees, but when it comes down to the 4th quarter and Akon subs in, then everyone will be keeping an eye on him.
While there are many times it feels like Akon should hang it up, he’s just one shot/hook from adding another page to his legacy.
Starting 5
Drake – Point Guard
Drake is hated or loved more than any other player in the league, but you cannot deny that right now he is in control for the upcoming season.
Whether he is dishing the assist (featuring on a track) or he’s taking the ball all the way to the hole by himself, Drake’s court vision and knowledge of the game only makes us believe this could be his best year yet.
It doesn’t hurt that he has also surrounded himself with one of the best support teams in the league as well.
Starting 5
Lil Wayne – Shooting Guard
Even though his style of play may have changed over the years, Wayne has somehow still found a way to be the most consistent shooter in the league and always manages to deliver.
Selling over 1 million albums his 1st week (again), many of us thought Weezy would be on the decline of his career by now.
However, Weezy is an overall good player who passes just as well as he shoots, he’s never afraid to try new formations, and can light it up at any given second.
Weezy is an automatic all-star shoe in every year.
Starting 5
Kanye West & Jay-Z – Small Forward & Power Forward
The best way to compare Jay and Ye to basketball would probably be to compare them to the twin towers of David Robinson and Tim Duncan.
While it was unfair that David Robinson dominated for so long, it only became even more one sided when somehow Robinson ended up with Duncan beneath his wings.
Even though the timeline is a little different, Jay-Z and Kanye are currently like the 98-99 Tim Duncan/David Robinson era.
The worst part of it all is that even when Jay is ready to retire like David, Ye will still be holding down the franchise for years to come.
Starting 5
Eminem – Center
There’s nothing like a dominate big man and no man is more dominate in the rap game than Eminem.
Sure a point guard can make everyone better and control the game, but a big man at Eminem’s caliber is one that no one seems to have an answer for.
He’s consistent, he demands attention at all time, and he could go off on you at any second.
No one even tries to challenge Eminem (except for D league players like Nick Cannon), which is exactly why Eminem is an automatic all-star and a future hall of famer.
