We’ll always love Big Poppa, but “The Overweight Lover” will never be forgotten, too. The Centric network will be airing an original documentary on the late rapper Heavy D this month, highlighted by several of his celebrity friends providing insight on the Heavster’s musical genius.

Entitled, Be Inspired: The Life of Heavy D, the documentary will feature interviews with tenured industry artists like Will Smith, Cee Lo, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte and Queen Latifah, as well as the rapper’s family, as they reflect on Heavy’s impact on their lives and Hip-Hop. Heavy D, who fathered the swag utilized by other later rotund rappers such as the Notorious B.I.G. and Big Pun, succumbed to a pulmonary embolism as a result of a deep leg vein thrombosis on November 8, 2011. His last televised performance was at the BET Hip-Hop Awards a month earlier. That, and other performance footage, will also be featured on the documentary.

Be Inspired: The Life of Heavy D, is scheduled to premiere on Centric, Sunday February 26, at 11pm EST.
