Lil Wayne saw critical backlash —and lost his Mountain Dew endorsement — because of his infamous line, “beat that pu–y up like Emmett Till,” on Future’s “Karate Chop.” Though he issued a written apology to the Till family in May, the YMCMB rhymer felt it appropriate to send his regards again during a recent performance.

It all went down at the Nashville, Tenn. stop of his America’s Most Wanted Music Festival. As the band played the track’s sweeping melody, Weezy swapped out the original line with “I apologize to the family of Emmett Till. Two fingers in the air,” before continuing his verse.

Tunechi’s previous attempt to make amends with the Till family didn’t go over well —mainly because he never actually said that he was sorry. Thankfully, his second crack at an apology was very different in that regard.

See it all in the footage below.
