A Caucasian male who is trying to perpetrate the Black stereotype has successfully made a bank in Iowa the site of robbery for the second week in a row.

Reports CBS Iowa:

Police say a man walked into the Guaranty Bank Branch on Jacolyn Drive Northwest around 10 o’clock Monday morning. The robber was wearing some sort of makeup to make his skin appear darker.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department says they have officers doing regular checks on these banks; they’re also working on several special initiatives with bank personnel. However, it hasn’t slowed these robbers down.

“It is a good neighborhood, definitely a good side of town to be on,” says resident Dustin Coppess. “Seems like no matter where you’re at anymore, something’s going down.” And for the second time in as many weeks, it did go down – yet another armed robber in disguise at Guaranty bank. “Obviously, yeah, it is a problem,” Coppess says. It’s a sentiment echoed by police Chief Wayne Jerman. “Anytime someone displays a weapon and commits a robbery, it’s a very serious crime,” Jerman says.

So far in 2014, there have been 8 banks robberies across the city – more than the last three years combined. “It just seems like they keep happening no matter where you go,” Coppess says. “Bad economy, who knows what’s triggering it.”

Experts say that there are three reasons for the increased string in robberies. Increased hours also increase the chance for a robbery, banks offer big payouts and they are usually low risk, with the teller being trained to comply at all costs.

Cedar Rapids is the second largest city in the state and witnesses on the scene testify that it has a great family environment.

Rest assured they can’t blame this latest crime wave on the usual scapegoat.
