U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder still has some tricks up his sleeve for the remainder of his tenure in office. During a recent trip to Atlanta, Holder got real symbolic with his message to end racial profiling at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, famously known as the church where the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. preached.

“In the coming days, I will announce updated Justice Department guidance regarding profiling by federal law enforcement. This will institute rigorous new standards — and robust safeguards — to help end racial profiling, once and for all,” Holder said as reported by theGrio. “This new guidance will codify our commitment to the very highest standards of fair and effective policing.”

“As this congregation knows better than most, peaceful protest has long been a hallmark, and a legacy, of past struggles for progress,” he continued “This is what Dr. King taught us, half a century ago, in his eloquent words from the Ebenezer pulpit and in the vision he shared from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.”

Acting under President Obama’s orders, Holder intentionally selected the Ebenezer Baptist Church as the site to make the announcement, as he met with local Atlanta law enforcement and community leaders during his stay down south. The visit–obviously sparked by the disturbance of civility in Ferguson–goes hand-and-hand with the president’s proposal to spend $263 million for cops nationwide to wear body cameras at all times, in efforts to prevent the Darren Wilson’s of the world to not get away with perceived manslaughter.
