Baltimore City Council member Carl Stokes wasn’t the only person to give CNN lessons how to properly report the facts. Stokes was a guest of host Erin Burnett‘s show and checked her over the questionably racist use of the word “thugs” in naming protestors.

Stokes appeared on the Erin Burnett Out Front show, discussing the situation in Baltimore on Tuesday (April 28). Burnett, much like her CNN colleague Wolf Blitzer, attempted to push a certain narrative and getting the councilman to agree. Stokes held his ground and then flipped the entire script by suggesting Burnett just take off the filter and call the protesters the “n-word.”

Burnett opened up asking was using thugs correct in assessing the character of those involved in Monday’s (April 27) skirmishes and outbursts in the city.

Stokes responded, “No, it’s not the right word to call our children ‘thugs. These are children who have been set aside, marginalized, who have not been engaged by us.”

Burnett began talking over Stokes and said,  “But how does that justify what they did? “That’s a sense of right and wrong. They know it’s wrong to steal and burn down a CVS and an old persons’ home. I mean, come on.”

Stokes fired back, “Come on? Just call them n*ggers. Just call them n*ggers. No, we don’t have to call them by names such as that. We don’t have to do that.”

This came after Deray McKesson shut down Blitzer earlier in the day after the host tried to bully the activist on air to denounce the so-called Baltimore Uprising.

And what’s with CNN hosts these days?
