Nicki Minaj’s brother Jelani Maraj has just been indicted on child rape charges in New York. He is facing a 15 years to life sentence.

Nicki Minaj has spoken highly of her brother any chance she could get. But she has been quiet as her brother awaited to hear his fate after being charged with a litany of charges involving the rape of an underaged girl in December. Minaj earned a reputation as an vicious MC for her scene-stealing verse on Kanye West’s “Monster.” Now it looks like her own brother really is one.

Bossip is reporting:

A grand jury has indicted Nicki Minaj’s brother on charges that he repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl.

The grand jury decided that there was enough evidence to charge newlywed Maraj – Nicki Minaj’s oldest brother and her employee – with sexually abusing the tween girl. They’d deliberated for about a month before handing down the decision April 4, according to court records.

Maraj, 37, is facing a top charge of felony predatory sexual assault against a child, along with felony sexual conduct against a child under age 13, sexual conduct against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.

Maraj had just recently got married, throwing many for a loop with the news that he sexually assaulted a 12-year old girl. Minaj even caught ire from fans and social media when she posted a $100,000 bond for her brother when he was charged and arrested in December 2015. It was reported that she put up two of her homes to post the bail. The act came as a bit of a surprise given her past opinions on what she felt about child abusers.

She has yet to speak publicly on her brother or the case.

Minaj is currently on screens across America as a co-star in Barbershop 3: The Next Cut.
