Nicki Minaj took a visit to NBC’s The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to promote her upcoming debut season on Fox’s American Idol.
Although the YMCMB artist has been on Leno in the past, Nicki opened up about a lot of her past as an actress at the famed LaGuardia High School in Manhattan. “I felt that I was at home because all of the other kids were crazy like me, but I was the only black girl in the school. There was like two black people in the entire drama class, and I was the other one. And I’m still friends with the other black girl,” Nicki said jokingly but serious.
Minaj also talked about her first ever paying gig, which happened to be in Brooklyn alongside an adult film star. “I did a show in Brooklyn, New York and made $750 dollars,” Nicki began. ” I got there and I was so excited and went there with all my friends and thought it was going to be all about me and they had booked another person who seemed to get all of the attention, I guess that was because she was a Adult Videos star. So at one point I looked over and seen everyone lining up to take pictures with her.”
