Slowly but surely, you know longer have to add an “aka Mos Def” when you say Yasiin Bey. However, this tune, the Kanye West produced “The Light Is Not Afraid of The Dark” is from before the name change and sounds like vintage freshness.

The story goes that the song was record during the Tru3 Magic recording sessions but inexplicably didn’t make the album, which dropped way back in 2006. The Boogie Man performed the song recently during a stop at The Shrine in Chicago a few weeks ago. It makes you wonder what other goodies the BK MC and actor has in the vaults.

Another recent project that won’t be getting sealed away is the upcoming collaborative album with producer Mannie Fresh titled OMFGOD. Last week, they officially dropped it first single, the stirring “Black Jesus.” The album is due out sometime this year.

For now, listen to “The Light Is Not Afraid of The Dark” below.
