Ray J is already copping pleas. Over the weekend, Brandy’s brother dropped a new single called “I Hit It First,” which is clearly aimed at his ex-elicit video partner Kim Kardashian. However, Ray is already backtracking and saying listeners are “digging into it too deep.” Oh word?

The “Wait A Minute” crooner called in to Hot 97 to explain the song, and the struggle excuses immediately started flying. “Yo, it’s a song. It’s not about that, it’s about a concept, people going way too deep,” said Ray J when Ebro, Rosenberg and K. Foxx mentioned that he was singing about a pregnant woman on Hot 97’s The Realness segment. “They just gotta keep it on the surface. I’m not trying to create no war. It’s all love.”

When asked if he was still in love with Kim K, Ray J added “Yo, I think people digging into it too deep. It’s a song, we just having fun, that’s it.”

With a lyric like, “I had her head going North and her @ss going South, but now baby chose to go west,” he is clearly referring to Kim and her current boyfriend and baby daddy to be Kanye West. Then there is the artwork that’s clearly a nod to Kim K. So how are listeners digging “too deep”?

At least own up to your slander, Ray J. Let us know what you think about the singer’s explanation in the comments. Watch Hot 97 take him to task below.
