The Notorious B.I.G. said it best—with more money comes more problems. When you move into those higher tax brackets, the IRS will always keep a sharp eye on how you are moving, especially celebrities.
As a celeb most of the time you will receive gross pay with no taxes taken out upfront and if your mind isn’t right, you can get easily caught up. Even with high profile accountants and lawyers on their payroll, some stars still have messy finances.
Sadly a lot of these high profile stars are only playing with baby money, therefore the IRS gets in the tax lien and property repossession game. Here are a few Hip-Hop and R&B that got that work from Uncle Sam.

Fat Joe recently admitted to getting caught up in a possible ponzi scheme with a shady accountant which landed him four months in prison. The Don turns himself in August 26th.
Young Buck fell into a spiral of IRS debt forcing him to auction most of his personal belongings, including his kid’s Playstation.
The lovely Toni Braxton has long battled with IRS problems leading up to her losing the right to 27 of her songs in a bankruptcy deal.
Ms. Hill has too been in a long battle with the IRS over tax evasion. The Fugees star is currently serving three months in prison.
Wesley Snipes just finished a three year prison term for tax evasion with about 14 million dollars due to the IRS.
Nas has also suffered hardship from his messy finances. He was forced to foreclose on his home in Atlanta and is on the hook for an alleged six million dollars.
David “Sinbad” Adkins reigned as one of the highest earning comedians in the 1990s’s. Since then has been trouble with back taxes. Recently he filed for bankruptcy for a second time.
Jermaine Dupri was one of the first Hip-Hop stars to get dealt with what seemed to be a knockout punch by the IRS in 2006. Recently he was hit with two tax liens totaling 800,000 dollars.
Mr. X to the Z, Xzibit, has filed for bankruptcy twice and now faces a tax lien of 130,000 dollars stemming from 2011.
Bow Wow has been neglecting his duties as a tax paying citizen with several liens from 2006 stacking up to a to 125,000 dollars.
Ja Rule failed to pay almost 3 million dollars in taxes. His charges for illegal firearm possession and tax evasion ran concurrent while in prison leaving him to serve the balance of his IRS sentence at home under supervision.
