In case you were silly enough to think the greatness that is “Thank You” was a shot in the dark, Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes return in full with with a collaborative mixtape The Abstract & The Dragon for your listening pleasure. Again, the veteran wordsmiths flex their flows over a funky, nostalgic beats that will appease the older crowd and show the newer generation why the phrase “90s Hip-Hop” is so commonplace today.

Unlike most artists that jump in the collaborative waters early in their careers, Bussa Bus and Kamal have a long, storied history of creating music together. After all this time, it only made sense for a full-length to revatilize both of their careers in an era where age doesn’t equal a hinderance.

The mixtape actually consists of chunks of their previous material but Q-Tip and Busta Rhymes return with a new track called “Butch & Sundance.” The record dons a sound similar to what’s heard on the A Tribe Called Quest MC’s The Renaissance LP. Palpitating drums and a spine-tingling bass line drive the production. From the opening bar, it’s clear that Kamal The Abstract and Bussa Buss have found their groove.

All across the tape, the two trade verses that shows that their respective pens always packed potency.
