4 people were shot and 54 were arrested near Times Square Monday after opening fire following the New York International Auto Show.

Police say that violence spilled into the street after the show with brawls and gun shots. The 54 arrested mainly face charges of disorderly conduct.

Police report that a man was shot in the ankle, a woman was shot with a BB gun, another woman was shot in the elbow while the fourth victim–another woman was shot in the thigh.

All four are in stable condition.

According to police, the shootings are not surprising.

Chief NYPD spokesman Paul J. Browne tells The Associated Press that extra police were on the scene because of incidents after past auto-shows.

He describes those arrested as, “young men looking for trouble.”

Most of the people arrested were men in their 20s from neighboring boroughs outside of Manhattan.
