The mayor of Atlanta Kasim Reed is putting his foot down on parties planning to take over the city this weekend for Freaknik.

While the mayor says he won’t shut down the events altogether he’s warning the Black college students planning on invading the city that police will be out in full force.

During a press conference Wednesday Mayor Reed says the city is prepared for the event and the onslaught of traffic that it will it and several other events will inevitably bring.

Along with Freaknik the Atlanta Hawks start the playoffs, an Atlanta Braves game, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, the Sweetwater 420 Fest and an estimated 20,000 people will be in town for a robotics convention.

No outdoor permits have been issued for Freaknik and all activities are expected to be confined to clubs.

Mayor Reed says if things get too out of order he will sue organizers.

Freaknik is scheduled for April 15-17.
