The NBA’s 2014 free agency soap opera has been extended to extra episodes, even in lieu of LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony picking their teams.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio isn’t looking to jump from his frozen franchise, but with teammate Kevin Love rumored to be joining James and the Cavs next season, the popular Spanish player isn’t trying to stick around without getting heavily compensated for his time.

As Bleacher Report is revealing, Rubio and his agent are seeking a 5-year max contract that will have him favoring money over the possibility of winning a championship. Dan Fegan, Rubio’s agent, is pushing the ball club to the limit, seeing that his client is now eligible for the extension. As for deserving, well, that’s another round of H–O–R–S–E.

Love and Rubio were expected to be a dynamic duo in their own right but combined with Love’s health issues and Rubio’s shooting woes, the Timberwolves limped to a 31–51 (.378) overall record. Rubio managed to play in every game of the season, but only averaged 9.5 points per game on 38 percent shooting.

Upon hearing the news of Rubio’s intentions, fans immediately brought out the Photoshop and slandered the point guard with memes. Earlier in the week, Rubio sadly tweeted, “Well, he is not coming to Minnesota,” in reference to LeBron James’ “Decision II” so it was worth a shot, right?

Flip through the pages below to see the NBA public thinks about giving Rubio a boatload of money to score under 10 points a game.
