Few feelings compare to a record that inspires scowls and head nods within seconds of pressing play. Those who agree will enjoy the records we’ve selected in this edition of The Wrap Up: Hip-Hop Wired’s Top 10 Songs Of The Week.
The tracks are more often than not mean and vicious, and a lot of that has to do with not-so-underlying street themes in the music. However, a few cuts deviate from the hard-hitting sound we previously mentioned.

10. Curtis Williams ft. Wiz Khalifa & Jace – “Shenanigans”
Producer: Metro Boomin
Curtis Williams of Atlanta rap outfit Two-9 trades verses with his partner in rhyme Jace and Taylor Gang’s Wiz Khalifa on this melodic jam. Look for his Danco EP to release soon.
9. Lil Bibby ft. Jadakiss & Anthony Hamilton – “Water (Remix)”
Producer: Black Metaphor
It took a while, but Bibby finally delivered a proper remix for his soulful cut “Water.”
8. Logic ft. Childish Gambino – “Driving Ms. Daisy”
Producer: Logic & 6ix
Def Jam’s rising Maryland rapper wrote, produced and arranged this cut. Talk about a hell of an upside.
7. Chaz French ft. Goldlink – “LMGLML”
Producer: Kris Minor

French & GoldLink are as good a reason as any to keep an eye on the DMV’s bubbling Hip-Hop scene.
6. Starlito ft. Kevin Gates & Juicy J – “Ballin'”
Producer: Bandplay
Lito and company leave the microphone smoking on this hard-hitting heater.
5. Rae Sremmurd – “No Type”
Producer: Mike WiLL Made-It & Swae Lee of Rae Sremmurd
“No Flex Zone” left many wondering if this Mississippi duo would be one hit wonders. After hearing the track above, we’d say they still have some fuel in the tank.
4. P Reign ft. Drake & Future – “DnF”
Producer: Marshall Mathers, Luis Resto, Emile Haynie, J. Hill & S. Fur
A criminal background has long been a contributing reason for why Reign hasn’t impacted stateside, but that looks to change soon. Hear proof above.
3. Yancey Boys ft. Slum Village – “Global Warming”
Producer: Young RJ
If Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing was set in Detroit on the hottest day of the year, instead of the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of New York City, this is how it would sound.
2. Eminem ft. Sia – “Guts Over Fear”
Producer: Marshall Mathers, Luis Resto, Emile Haynie, J. Hill & S. Fur
Em delivered some of the most truthful rhyme we’ve heard this week on this ambient cut.
1. Lil Herb ft. Common & Chance The Rapper – “Fight Or Flight (Remix)”
Producer: Brian “All Day” Miller
Listeners receive authentic depictions of life in the streets of Chicago from three distinctively different voices on this soulful cut.
