The wait for Vince Staples’ highly anticipated Hell Can Wait EP is nearly over, as it’s due to arrive on October 7.

The Long Beach, Calif. native made the announcement via an Instagram post that included the project’s animated artwork. Staples initially planned to drop his new music in September, but issues with sample clearances postponed its release.

The rapper revealed that his projects are time capsules, chronicling key periods in his life, during an exclusive interview with Hip-Hop Wired. Continuing  where his acclaimed Shyne Coldchain Vol. 2 EP left off, Staples informed the Sway in the Morning Show that this project details his freshman year of high school, during which he witnessed something that forever changed his life.

Staples, who’s shown a natural prowess for lyricism and storytelling in his young age, has left fans with audible jewels, “Blue Suede” and “Hands Up.”

See the Hell Can Wait cover, as well as Staples’ aforementioned interview with Sway below. We’ve also included a clip of the MC freestyling over Missy Elliott’s “The Rain” on the next page.
