Fans around the world are going absolutely bonkers over D’Angelo’s comeback album Black Messiah, which with just a few days notice today. The man behind the music discussed the artists who influenced him during a conversation with Red Bull Music Academy.
The interview was conducted by Chairman Mao for RBMA Radio’s “Headphone Highlights” series. The Virginia singer-songwriter recalls growing up surrounded by music, and even tells an interesting anecdote about first hearing Prince’s music as a child. If nothing else, this sit down gives fans a look at legendary artists who’ve inspired D’Angelo over the years.
