Christian Gomez, a 23-year-old Florida man, has been arrested after he beheaded his mother with an ax at their home. Gomez reportedly decapitated his mother because she was nagging him about doing household chores.
Gomez, who a family member says that he is stricken with schizophrenia, was arrested Wednesday (Dec. 31) nearby his house in the town of Oldsmar as shared by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. Gomez faces a first-degree murder charge in the case and is being held without bond.

Deputies responding to a 911 call found the body of the victim, 48-year-old Maria Suarez Cassagne, outside the residence, officials said. Gomez was found and arrested a few blocks away.
Gomez hit his mother over the head with an axe then decapitated her in the garage, sheriff’s office officials said. He put her head in a garbage can and tried to put the body inside, but it was too heavy, they said.
Gomez’s older brother found their mother’s body.
To make matters even more bizarre, Gomez grinned widely in his arrest photo taken by the Pinellas County authorities. It has not been reported if Gomez has retained the services of an attorney.
