Azaelia Banks quietly quit Twitter for lent. Never mind the fact that Lent started in mid-February and it’s early March. The rapper tweeted Sunday (March 1) that she’s jumping in the “40 days, 40 nights” game a day late and dollar short. But at least she made it, right? Twitter has been a saving grace for the Harlem native’s career in that it not only provides a forum to her thoughts, it also keep her name in the mix. The latter is definitely necessary when musing over race and white supremacy in one breathe, and getting naked for Playboy in the next. It’s nice that we get to see her range. Like Iggy Azalea, Banks could definitely use a self-inflicted break from social media. Maybe she should one-up her nemesis and stay the hell off of Twitter for the rest of 2015. Yeah right.
