The explosive first season of Empire brought out some real musical talent and two of the show’s most promising stars have a chance to showcase their talents on one of the biggest stages the biz has to offer.
Earlier today, Billboard and dick clark productions announced today that Empire recording artists Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray will performing alongside Estelle for an Empire themed performance at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards. Fans of the show remember the Grammy Award-winning British songstress’ cameo on the episode “Unto the Breach” where she belted out a melody of the songs “Conqueror” and “You’re So Beautiful” and viewers can expect to see that transformed into a live rendition. “My hope is that ‘Conqueror’ will continue to inspire people as much as possible. It’s such a powerful message! I cannot wait to perform it at the Billboard Music Awards with Jussie!” said Estelle.
“There’s no way I could possibly love music more than I already do. The Billboard Music Awards has been the epitome of celebrating some of the best of the best in music,” Smollett says of the honor. “To be included as a performer on this year’s celebration is a huge honor.”
Gray a.k.a. Yazz agreed saying, “I’m still living in a dream – the success of Empire and now getting the honor to perform at the Billboard Music Awards. It’s truly a blessing.”
Ludacris is returning as host for the 2015 Billboard Music Awards with some help from Chrissy Teigen and the likes of John Legend, Wiz Khalifa, Iggy Azalea, Fall Out Boy, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and more have all been confirmed to perform as well.
