There’s a catch to Beyoncé’s prestigious Vogue cover. Mrs. Carter is seen inside the lauded September Issue, but you won’t hear a single word from her in the cover story.

It’s obviously not a conventional cover story. Pulitzer Price winning writer Margo Jefferson penned an essay about Bey’s greatness. “It was definitely posed to me as … call it a think piece if you want,” Jefferson told the New York Times via telephone.  “I had no contact with her camp.”

Bey has been on a silent kick for a while now. It’s apparently been more than a year since she’s answered a “direct question.”

If you think about it, the idea is pretty genius. Entertainment is clamored with celebrities mouthing off, yet Bey would rather be seen, than heard. The mystery of it all builds anticipation for every Instagram post, Tumblr updates, and lest we not forget about that surprise album.

Baddie Bey is in full control of her career.
