While LA and Pebbles clearly had a business and personal relationship, the husband and wife team never brought their union to LaFace Records. Pebbles was actually signed to MCA, while Babyface and Reid’s label was distributed through RCA. Maybe that made it easier to produce the overwhelming majority of her sophomore album.
