A racist, and clearly cowardly individual, was arrested Thursday (Nov. 12) for making threats on social media that were directed at Black students at Michigan Technological University. The suspect posted a message threatening to “shoot all Black people” via Yik Yak, the same app used by a 19-year-old University of Missouri student arrested for the same thing a day earlier.
No other information has been released about the suspect, but police presence was increased on the Michigan campus out of precaution. Authorities also sent out email bulletins to students, staff, and faculty members.
“It’s important to remember that we are a community and will not tolerate threats to any member of our family,” said Michigan Tech President Glenn Mroz in a statement Thursday. “It’s time we watch out for one another.”
As noted by Raw Story, this latest incident is the fourth of its kind this week. However, if there’s anything that the students of Mizzou have proved, it’s that there is strength in unity.
Try as they might, a few racist a**holes can’t derail the movement.
