The fact of the matter is, Kim Kardashian is slowly but surely becoming the gatekeeper to all things Kanye West. Yeezy’s wife shared a vintage video of the Chicago rapper/designer/sneaker hawker reciting a poem he created in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. yesterday (Jan. 18).

Reports the New York Daily News:

The pint-sized rapper’s verses, titled “His Name Is Love,” celebrate King’s fight for equality “so blacks, Hispanics, Jews and Asians could put their foot in the door.”

“Yes, we know that this man is great / That’s why today we celebrate and everyone lifts their voice and sing / For a man who wanted freedom to ring,” West delivers forcefully, albeit in a prepubescent tenor.

“Martin Luther King is who I’m speaking of / A man whose name means love.”

The video was shot in 1990, according to a YouTube link Kardashian provided — making the budding poet about 13.

Respect.
