Russell Simmons heard about Denver Broncos player Brandon Marshall losing sponsorships after protesting the national anthem and wants to help.
Marshall followed Colin Kaepernick‘s lead in not standing for the national anthem and lost his sponsorship deal with the Air Academy Federal Credit Union.
Serial entrepreneur Simmons heard about it and shared his intent to find Marshall and support him.
Rush’s Instagram post reads:
Which other company is supporting BRANDON it’s says 2 endorsements RUSHCARD IS IN. WE WILL FIND BRANDON AND MAKE HIM AN OFFER AND MAKE HIM A DEAL
Simmons later posted that he has spoke with Marshall and is currently looking for the money.
If this deal happens, it would be a good look. Seeing the support that a man like Simmons can offer to athletes facing scrutiny for their political views, may encourage more sports stars to speak up if they know they can be financially supported by their community.
