Police have arrested three men in connection with the tragic shooting death of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay‘s daughter Trinity.
According to The Chicago Tribune, the suspects include a father and son duo and one other man that they got into a shootout with, resulting in the stray bullet that hit 15-year old Trinity in the neck.
The father, 38-year old Chazerae Taylor and his 19-year old son D’Markeo have both been charged with wanton endangerment. The other man, 21-year old D’Vonta Middlebrooks has been hit with the same as well as a weapons charge.
Police are still investigating the incident. They do not believe Trinity was in either one of the vehicles. The Lexington Herald-Ledger reports that Trinity sent out a tweet from Cook Out restaurant she was at saying “Of course they start shootin’,” around 2 a.m., just two hours before she was shot. She died at 4:41 a.m. after being transported to the hospital.
Like her father, Gay was a promising track star at Lafayette High School in Lexington, Ky. with hopes of following in her father’s Olympic footsteps and becoming a surgeon.
A hashtag, #LLT [Long Live Trinity] has been created in her honor.
