Nicki Minaj hopped on Twitter to address a fake controversy that was brewing over comments she made about Kanye West getting on and leaving you for a White girl.

In an interview with Marie Claire [they write about Hip-Hop too now] Minaj spoke on the irony in Kanye West‘s 2005 hit “Gold Digger” where he raps “when you get on, he’ll leave your ass for a White girl.”

“It wasn’t funny when Kanye said, ‘When he get on, he’ll leave your ass for a white girl,’ and Kanye happens to be with a white girl now,” she says in the interview. “It wasn’t funny when he said it. It was the f*cking truth.”

The “white girl” Minaj is talking about is Kanye’s wife Kim Kardashian.

After seeing that, another non-Hip-Hop publication, Cosmopolitan magazine, sent out a tweet centered around that quote in particular. Except here, they said that Minaj “slammed” West.

Sensing that the internet was ready to pounce on this misinformation, Minaj acted on the offensive and cleared it up.

If people keep taking her words and twisting them around, Nicki may take a page from her boyfriend Meek Mill‘s book and leave social media altogether.
