2016’s celebrity body count is no joke. Actress Carrie Fisher has passed away one week after suffering a heart attack.

The news comes via an announcement from a family spokesperson Simon Halls.

Per statement:

“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning…She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

The death comes just four days after Fisher suffered a major heart attack while on board a flight London to Los Angeles. Upon landing, she was rushed to UCLA Medical Center.

Fisher is primarily known to the world for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars movie franchise.

In an interview with Rolling Stone just last month, the outspoken actress shared that she wasn’t scared of death, but scared of dying, if that makes sense. She explained:

No. I fear dying. Anything with pain associated with it, I don’t like. I’ve been there for a couple of people when they were dying; it didn’t look like fun. But if I was gonna do it, I’d want someone like me around. And I will be there!

In her 2008 memoir Wishful Drinking, she wrote that she’d like her obituary to read “that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.”

Let’s hope she gets her wish. Check out one of her final interviews with Stephen Colbert below.
