Instead of being concerned about trying to keep the country from falling apart, your President is more worried about a report saying that NFL teams area afraid to sign Colin Kaepernick because of his tweets.

NFL free agency is in full swing and Colin Kaepernick hasn’t been getting any phone calls. Keep in mind, he just played in a Super Bowl four years ago and got the San Francisco 49ers to the NFC Championship two years in a row in 2012 and 2013. So the consensus is that NFL teams are punishing him for kneeling during the national anthem last season and speaking his mind against injustice, racism and police brutality.

In a report from Bleacher Report, an anonymous NFL general manager said that teams are avoiding Kaepernick for a number of reasons. One, they think his best years are behind him. Two, they fear that fans will protest. Three, they are afraid Donald Trump will tweet about it.

The unnamed GM is quoted saying:

“First, some teams genuinely believe that he can’t play. They think he’s shot. I’d put that number around 20 percent. Second, some teams fear the backlash from fans after getting him. They think there might be protests or [President Donald] Trump will tweet about the team. I’d say that number is around 10 percent. Then there’s another 10 percent that has a mix of those feelings.

“Third, the rest genuinely hate him and can’t stand what he did [kneeling for the national anthem]. They want nothing to do with him. They won’t move on. They think showing no interest is a form of punishment. I think some teams also want to use Kaepernick as a cautionary tale to stop other players in the future from doing what he did.”

Of course, when this news came across Trump’s eyes, he couldn’t wait to repeat it. Because that’s what he does, repeat news that makes him look powerful.

Your President said:

I’m just reporting the news. There was an article today—I love to report the news and then they said I made a mistake, right? I said, no, the people reporting the news made a mistake if it’s wrong. But, there was an article today, it was reported, that NFL owners don’t wanna pick him up because they don’t wanna get a nasty tweet from Donald Trump. Do you believe that?

I just saw that. I said, “If I remember that one, I’m gonna report it to the people of Kentucky.” Because they like it when people actually stand for the American flag, right?

Trump’s gloating comes just days after he hopped on Twitter to spark a beef with Snoop Dogg.

Earlier this week Spike Lee offered similar sentiments on Kaepernick’s football career being in limbo. He also believes that NFL teams are avoiding Kaepernick because of his political statements.
