Wale held a light listening party for his latest studio album, Shine, at the offices of Genius Wednesday night, a project the DMV rapper has been working on for a year. The Maybach Music Group star announced at the event that he’s moving the release of his album up one week for this Friday (April 28).

Genius’ Rob Markman hosted the listening session slash artist discussion and had Folarin break down some of his dense lyrics for a song titled “Scarface Rozay Gotti” while explaining the DMV’s love of the Houston legend. The chatter between Markman and Wale felt like two old friends that just so happen to be discussing one of Hip-Hop’s highly anticipated releases.

During a live set, Wale stunned the crowd by announcing he’s dropping Shine tomorrow but Markman slyly tried to take credit for the big moment in a tongue in cheek tweet.

Peep out some of the tweets from Genius, Wale and even MMG boss Rick Ross below and on the following pages. We also threw Shine‘s tracklist down below so check that out too.

Congrats on the new joint, Ralph!
