This is not the news fans wanted to hear. The cause of renowned grunge rock singer Chris Cornell’s death was suicide, per the medical examiner.
The Associated Press reports that the Soundgarden and Audioslave singer hanged himself in a Detroit hotel room on Wednesday (May 17).
However, a full autopsy has not yet been performed. According to the Detroit Free Press. Cornell was found with “a band around his neck” in the MGM Grand Hotel. Another police spokesman said Cornell was found unresponsive on the floor.
