Not sure if many people were asking for this, but it has been annouced that the classic XBOX controller, The Duke, will be re-released.

The giant and very clunky controller will be repurposed to work for Windows 10 and XBOX One systems bringing back the feeling the first XBOX system gave gamers.

‘The Duke’ was originally casted into the gaming abyss soon after the XBOX’s release and replaced by the ‘Controller S’ because no one liked it. As to why they feel the need to give this monster of a controller new life is a mystery to us all. One can only assume to accommodate large-handed gamers who could honestly put such a thing to good use.

It definitely sticks to Microsoft’s love for big things, the first XBOX was huge and the first model of the XBOX One is no small fry neither.

Dubbed the ‘New Duke’, it makes its return in full classic form except that the logo in the middle will be replaced with a working LCD screen. No word on if the LCD screen will serve other functions while the controller is being used but it is indeed a cool touch.

As far as pricing is concerned, no information has been released but gaming peripheral manufacturer Hyperkin has informed their followers to keep a lookout for a pre-order information.

We can only guess that gamers would only want to own this thing for purely collecting purposes but hey we could be wrong.

There is some excitement brewing for the ‘New Duke’  around the twitterverse:

There are also those not feeling the return of the ‘New Duke” as well:

Reactions are very mixed so far but we are sure Microsoft will be able to probably sell more of these things now than when they first came out.

Will you be picking up a ‘New Duke’ controller when it drops? Or will you be sticking with your Elite controller?
