Authorities have identified a body they found floating in the Hudson River on Wednesday as that of Tyler Clementi, the Rutgers student who leaped to his death after his roommate allegedly posted a video of him getting intimate with another man online.

On September 22, after a video of him and another man getting affectionate went viral, the 18-year old college freshman announced via his Facebook page that he was going to jump off the George Washington Bridge in New York.

Clementi’s roommate, Dharan Ravi, and Ravi’s childhood friend, Molly Wei, are both being charged with invading Clementi’s privacy by allegedly taping him while he was engaged in sexual activities.

The prosecution may choose to take matters even further by adding bias intimidation charges as well, which could double the amount of potential prison time served by Ravi and Wei to 10 years.

New York City Medical Examiner’s office said the death had been ruled a suicide, with the causes listed as drowning and blunt impact injuries from the fall.
