 Joseph Massenburg managed to escape the gun violence crippling the Chicago area where he was from only to be gunned down in New Orleans. Massenburg, an 18-year-old from Matteson, Ill., was in the Big Easy doing volunteer work with AmeriCorps, when he was found dead Monday (April 1) night.

The U.S. Labor Department released the job report for the month of March and the figures are far from encouraging. The economy added only 88,000 new jobs over the month, while the unemployment rate dropped from 7.7 percent in February to  7.6 percent.
