In 1865, two years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, Black people in Galveston were liberated and Juneteenth was born.
The Senate votes unanimously to make Juneteenth a federal holiday, and now the bill goes to the House of Representatives for a vote before President Biden can sign it into law.
