Crooklyn has been voted winner of the “One Film, One New York” contest by Empire City residents.


Twenty years ago today, Spike Lee dropped his cherished coming-of-age flick Crooklyn. The film has become a classic for a number of reasons. 

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Spike Lee’s semi-autobiographical film, Crooklyn, which came on the eve of his expensive and controversial Malcolm X. We take a look at what’s happened to the cast since then.

Even though he has several classics under his belt, Spike Lee has officially struck out with his latest film Old Man. While he will still garner the respect he rightfully deserves, he has left a trail of movies that tarnish his legacy.
