A grand jury in Colorado indicted three police officers and two paramedics whose actions led to the death of McClain in 2019, making it another high-profile case of a Black person dying at the hands of law enforcement.

The Aurora Police Department, already in hot water over Elijah McClain, detained a Black mother and four minor children.

Three officers went to the site of the memorial to take the offensive photo, sending it to one of their colleagues who replied with laughter.

McClain went into a coma and died after police in Aurora placed him in a violent chokehold.
