“…you sold more records than any other artist in this decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me.”

Whether a person wants to blame pride or ego, producer Jermaine Dupri seems to have some sort of gripe with Usher and feels the singer isn’t paying him the right respect in terms of playing executive producer.

Being known for revitalizing the careers of Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and others, Dupri states, after speaking with VIBE, that his credentials place him in a position where artists should be lining up asking for his assistance, not vice versa.

“Me as a producer, it’s kind of hard for me to go back into people’s projects when I gave you your biggest album ever.”

While many might just look at Dupri as simply being full of himself, he chooses to stand behind the facts to establish exactly what he’s done for artists in the game.

“Obviously, I’m looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it’s the label, the artist, management… whoever it is. I’ve had this same conversation with L.A. Reid, because I’m doing Mariah Carey’s album right now. And on her last album, I didn’t have one song on there. But I did Emancipation of Mimi and she sold more records than she sold in the last five years. What part of the game makes y’all not call me?”

Stating that he has worked with Usher since Confessions, let’s hope that the singer might make the decision to pick up the phone as every album since has taken a dip in quality, as dictated by the fans that still hold 2004 as his best year.
