Man Arrested For Beating Child To Death With Basketball Shoe [Video]

A Memphis, Tennessee man is in police custody after authorities say he beat a 2-year-old to death with a basketball shoe after she accidentally defecated on the floor.

Police report that 23-year-old Calvin Jones was babysitting his girlfriend's 2-year-old daughter when the child had an accident on the floor.

Jones told police that he “disciplined” the child with a basketball shoe and the back of his hand, smacking her several times.

When the child's mother, 21-year-old Anisha Alford returned, the child reportedly complained of not feeling well and was cold to the touch.

A witness tells police they saw the child gagging and spitting up with her eyes rolling in the back of her head but say Alford refused to take her to a hospital.

Instead the couple went to sleep and woke up in the morning to find the child dead.

Jones faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

Alford has been charged with first degree child abuse as well.

    All these children dying from the hands of their parents and parents girl/boyfriends. People need to be careful and picky on who they bring into their home and around their children. In this situation all 3 of them need to be locked up... I say 3 because whoever the witness was to seeing the childs eyes rolling back like that and did nothing should be locked up too.

    What is a BOYFRIEND a GROWN MAN putting his hands on a BABY period and that is not HIS ANY AWAY..they're just boyfriend and girlfriend..and WHY would a mother LEAVE her FEMALE child we a man alone anyway and not MARRIED? Don't do it..especially if you man is not working, doing drugs, and negative(madd) and you MAKING him babysit a BABY that is 2 years baby old(hell) I didn't get potty trained until I was almost 3-years old- a 2 year old will make potty mistakes..and the problem with the mother..HER CHILD TOLD her she was sick and FELT COLD? and you don't take her to the hospital? instead they good to bed and probably did the do-betcha she didn't get up one time and check on her daughter.     How many more times do we have to hear a story about a child who died at the hands of the mama's sorry *** boyfriend? Let's not waste time & money on a trial. Why feed & house them on taxpayers' dime? Take both them out back and beat them with stillettos until they gag, puke and their eyes are bashed in to the back of their heads. Then leave them to suffer. Somebody kick the mother until she's not fertile anymore because she put this no good piece of youknowwhat before the well-being of her own child. That 2 year old girl didn't deserve to have a mother like that. At least she's in a much better place now.

    the babys biological father is just as guilty. guys....if u dont want other men raising ur children step up and handle the responsability ur self. she wouldnt need a rent a pop f u were up on the job about YOURS.

    Just evil...the mother is at fault as well. She most definitely should not be absolved of any punishment! "Mothers" and I use that word loosely, should be more vigilant in keeping your children safe and not just leave them with anyone. Praying for this baby's soul.

    its sad, yet nothing new women have been picking the side of their men for decades, dozens of girls monthly are abused by mommies new boyfriend and do nothing about it. Then the kids get blamed for things becuase mommies want to "ignore'' the truth. Sad indeed and this is actually hell on earth, who needs the after when your living with the perils of evil daily.

    First, I wouldn't have left my baby with him! Say, for some odd reason I did, and my baby had those symptoms when I got home....mii woulda murder his bloodclot and I would be in jail!
    It's so sad...I'm going to sleep now thinking about how this little angel suffered before she died!!!! She was cold, bleeding internally, and in so much pain...God bless your soul princess! :'(
