Rapper Petey Pablo was sentenced Monday to 35 months in prison on a federal gun charge.
Pablo, 38, whose real name is Moses Barrett III, pleaded guilty in March to possession of a stolen firearm when he was discovered with one at an airport.
The rapper was arrested at Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Sept. 11, 2010, when a security screener found a 9mm handgun in his carry-on luggage.
It was later found out that the gun was actually stolen during a 2005 residential burglary in Gardena, California.
Pablo at the time was trying to catch a U.S. Airways flight to Los Angeles for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards when he was arrested, authorities said.
Known for his hit singles “Raise Up” and “Freek-A-Leek,” Pablo will have to wait at least 35 more months before his comeback.
Hopefully Pablo won’t have his own jail version of “Freek-A-Leek,” Shameka, Keisha, Sabrina…. Tyrone, Buck, Big Leroy…
