Future Talks Dungeon Family Ties, Credits Cousin Rico Wade With Success [VIDEO]

Atlanta rapper Nayvadius “Future” Wilburn has worked hard to establish his growing brand, this after making a splash on the airwaves in 2011 with the Drake-assisted hit single “Tony Montana.” Signing a record deal with the Epic Label Group last September, Future and his Freebandz Entertainment label and multimedia company are hoping to replicate past successes. Although Future has already hobnobbed with rap notables such as Snoop Dogg, fellow ATL native T.I. and the aforementioned Toronto rapper, he also happens to have ties with one of the South’s most legendary Hip-Hop/R&B collective in the Dungeon Family.

Speaking via his tour vlog in support of his debut album Pluto, Future shares how his cousin, Rico Wade, encouraged him to pursue his rap dreams by taking him into the Dungeon Family and teaching him how to hone his craft.  “Well Rico is like my cousin but he took me in and more like played a father role, a father figure role,” said Future. “He took me in as a cousin, as a friend, as a CEO. He played so many roles and made sure he was just always there.”

Future continued his heavy praise of Wade’s musical influence and instruction, calling him the “mastermind” behind the Haitian-American rapper’s sound. “The Dungeon Family motto is just being different. That’s what I get from that OG legendary wisdom from Khujo (Goodie) or Big Rube,” he continued.

The “Same Damn Time” artist will be releasing his Super Future mixtape in October with a follow up album Future Hendrix to follow.
